General Care

Expect bruising – if it doesn’t happen that’s great. If it does, ice the area with a cool compress (do not place ice directly on your skin).

Be aware that alcohol, anti-inflammatories, fish oil and aspirin can increase the incidence of bruising. Be aware that you may get a headache in a small percentage of people. If pain relief is required, use Panadol (if you have no allergies to Panadol).

If you have any concerns regarding your treatment or develop any symptoms or anything that concerns you in any form, please contact your Cosmetic Skin Therapies Medical Professional in the first instance. If it is an emergency situation or you are experiencing extreme discomfort or any other life threatening symptoms, seek emergency treatment immediately and do not wait to contact your Cosmetic Skin Therapies Nurse Medical Professional.

It is essential that you attend your follow up appointments at 2 weeks and 4 weeks post your original treatment. This will allow you to discuss your treatment with your CST Medical Professional who can provide a small top up treatment if required.  It also helps us to ensure the desired results you are looking for are achieved.

Anti-Wrinkle Treatments

Don’t lie down for 4 hours post treatment – this particularly relates to not lying on your face (i.e. attending a massage) where your facial muscles are compressed or altered from their normal resting position as this may alter the effect of the product placement. If possible, remain upright for 4-6 hours post treatment – i.e. sitting, standing and walking as normal.

Don’t touch the injection sites for 12 hours immediately following treatment – this reduces the risk of infection transmitted from hands.

Don’t massage the treatment area for 24 hours – this ensures the product remains in the location where it was precisely placed to achieve the best effect, as well as for infection prevention as above.

No strenuous exercise for 24 hours – this relates to product placement, reducing infection and reducing bruising and bleeding due to increased blood pressure and heart rate when exercising.

Do not use a sauna or spa for 24 hours – this relates to infection control as well as bleeding and bruising reduction.

Don’t drink alcohol for 24 hours post treatment – this relates to bleeding and bruising and minimising the risk of product interaction.

Be aware that it can take up to 14 days for the full effect of the treatment to take place – the majority of patients will notice a minor change in the strength of their muscles after 3 days, however the maximum effect occurs at 14 days and during this time there may be muscle asymmetry which is normal.

Dermal Filler Treatments

Don’t touch the injection sites for 12 hours immediately following treatment – this relates to reducing the risk of infection transmitted from hands.

No strenuous exercise for 24 hours – this relates to both product placement, reducing infection and reducing bruising and bleeding due to increased blood pressure and heart rate when exercising.

Do not use a sauna or spa for 24 hours – this relates to infection control as well as bleeding and bruising reduction.

Don’t drink alcohol for 24 hours post treatment – this relates to bleeding and bruising and minimising the risk of product interaction.

Do not use AHA, Retinols/Vitamin C therapies or oil-based makeup for 24 hours – this relates to reducing the risk of infection and skin trauma.

Avoid pressure on treated areas for the first few nights post treatment. If possible, sleep on your back – this relates to product being placed in precise locations to achieve the desired cosmetic outcome.

Avoid facials, facial waxing, Glycolic or AHA peels, IPL or energy-based treatments and microdermabrasion for two weeks after treatment – this relates to skin trauma and reducing the risk of infection and interaction with product.

Do not massage the treated area unless instructed by your medical professional – this relates to the precise placement of the product as well as reducing the risk of infection through transmission from hands.

If a small lump occurs after filler treatment, that is after the initial 24 hours period, you can massage the area gently or discuss this with your Cosmetic Skin Therapies Medical Professional who will advise accordingly.

It is essential that you attend your follow up appointments at 2 weeks and 4 weeks post your original treatment. This will allow you to discuss your treatment with your CST Medical Professional who can provide a small top up treatment if required.  It also helps us to ensure the desired results you are looking for are achieved.

Double Chin Treatment

To reduce the risk of infection, do not touch the treated areas with your hands in any instance in the immediate first hour post treatment – this relates to infection control; after the initial hour, avoid touching the area with your hands if possible.

No exercise for the first 24 hours post treatment – this relates to both product placement, reducing infection and reducing bruising and bleeding due to increased blood pressure and heart rate when exercising.

Don’t drink alcohol for 24 hours post treatment – this relates to bleeding and bruising and minimising the risk of product interaction.

If you have no allergies to it, take Panadol if pain relief is required.

Ice (cleanly wrapped) or clean cold packs can be applied to the area after the first hour for 15- 20 minutes as needed. Avoid prolonged periods or direct ice to skin. Swelling is expected in the first few days after treatment; however, if you develop any excessive swelling, difficulty breathing or swallowing, facial muscle weakness, asymmetric smile or anything that simply concerns you, contact your Cosmetic Skin Therapies Medical Professional immediately or seek emergency treatment immediately.

PRP Skin Treatment

After the PRP application to the skin, it is recommended not to wash your face or apply liquid make-up for at least 12 hours post-procedure. This is to allow platelets to activate and release growth factors to start the skin rejuvenation process. If you need to wash your face, please use warm water without soap.

If you require pain relief, please use Panadol.

Please do not use any anti-inflammatory medication (e.g.: Nurofen) or topical gel (e.g.: Voltaren) or oral steroids (e.g.: Prednisone) for 7 days post procedure • For patients who regularly take aspirin, you may resume it 48 hours after the procedure, unless otherwise directed by the attending Doctor for your procedure.

Minimal alcohol, coffee, caffeine; and nil supplements that may increase bruising for 2 days post procedure.

Nil exercise that would usually either create a flushed face or excessive facial perspiration for 24 hours.

Very rarely, patients can have a significant response to the injected PRP, and local swelling at the cannula injection under eye area can occur. This is due to the body initiating a pronounced regenerative process in the area and will usually be evident at the time of the procedure. The treating practitioner will assess and apply ice for a short period to calm down the local response to minimise post procedure downtime. If progressive swelling should occur after you leave the clinic, apply ice wrapped in a cloth to the area for 5-10.

PRP Hair Treatment

After the PRP application to the skin, it is recommended not to wash your hair for at least 12 hours post-procedure. This is to allow platelets to activate and release growth factors to start the hair rejuvenation process.

If you require pain relief, please use Panadol or Panadeine only (dose as usual for you).

Please do not use any anti-inflammatory medication (e.g.: Nurofen) or topical gel (e.g.: Voltaren) for 7 days post procedure.

Please do not take any oral steroids such as Prednisone for 7 days post procedure.

For patients who regularly take aspirin, you may resume it 48 hours after the procedure, unless otherwise directed by the Supervising Prescriber for your procedure.

Skin Needling Treatment

DO NOT EXPOSE YOURSELF TO THE SUN
After you have undergone your skin needling procedure, stay out of the sun and do not apply any sunscreen.

DO NOT USE ANY “ACTIVE INGREDIENT” SKIN PRODUCTS
Post procedure, avoid any skin care product that has active ingredients for a week. These commonly include things like Alpha Hydroxyl Acids, retinoids (Vitamin A) and other similar agents. The skin will be highly sensitive and these products will irritate it.

USE PRODUCTS HIGH IN PEPTIDES
As skin needling stimulates the production of collagen, the skin needs higher amounts of collagen than normal to recover optimally. Peptides assist in that process, further aiding in the stimulation of collagen production.

AVOID THE USE OF MAKEUP FOR 24 HOURS AFTER TREATMENT
It is imperative that you let your skin breathe. Using a makeup brush that has been used before can contaminate the skin and, consequently, lead to infections. Wait 24 to 48 hours before you apply face makeup to give your skin the necessary recovery time.

AVOID VIGOROUS EXERCISE OR PERSPIRING HEAVILY FOR 24-48 HOURS
As you sweat the pores of your skin will reopen, and the bacteria on your skin may enter the skin punctures. This can lead to a either a reaction or infection.

DRINK WATER
It is important to stay hydrated before and after your procedure to help your skin heal and rejuvenate faster.
